Cost calculator

Website, app and software cost calculator for IndiaA range to plan with, before anyone quotes.

Pick what you are building and answer four or five questions. You will see the range businesses in India are usually quoted, how long it tends to take, and the running costs most quotes leave out.

The ranges behind it

What each kind of project usually costs in India.

The calculator places you in one of these bands. They are the ranges you are likely to be quoted, not a price list — and the build is rarely the whole cost.

A website

Business websites, landing pages, redesigns

BandUsually quotedTimeline
A template, filled in₹15,000 – ₹40,0001–3 weeks
Designed and written for your business₹60,000 – ₹1.5 lakh4–7 weeks
A custom build with integrations₹2 lakh – ₹5 lakh8–16 weeks
A product, not a website₹5 lakh and upScoped in stages

After launch: Hosting ₹500–₹5,000 a month, a domain around ₹1,000 a year, and maintenance — either a retainer or an emergency call at a worse rate.

An online store

Shopify, WooCommerce, custom and B2B stores

BandUsually quotedTimeline
A hosted store, set up properly₹30,000 – ₹1 lakh3–6 weeks
A store with its operations connected₹1 lakh – ₹3 lakh6–12 weeks
A custom or B2B store₹3 lakh – ₹10 lakh3–6 months
A commerce platform₹10 lakh and upScoped in stages

After launch: On a hosted store, platform and apps usually run ₹2,000–₹10,000 a month, plus payment gateway fees on each order and the time it takes to keep products and stock current.

Custom software

ERP, CRM, portals, dashboards, SaaS

BandUsually quotedTimeline
A single tool₹25,000 – ₹1 lakhA few weeks
A focused business application₹1.5 lakh – ₹5 lakh6–12 weeks to a first version
Several connected modules₹5 lakh – ₹25 lakh3–9 months, in stages
A product₹25 lakh and upBudgeted by the year

After launch: Hosting ₹2,000–₹15,000 a month for a small business application, and roughly 15–25% of the build cost every year in maintenance.

A mobile app

Android and iOS apps, customer and field-staff apps

BandUsually quotedTimeline
A focused app₹1.5 lakh – ₹4 lakh6–10 weeks
A full app with its backend₹4 lakh – ₹12 lakh3–5 months
A large or marketplace-style app₹12 lakh – ₹30 lakh5–9 months
A product with a team₹30 lakh and upBudgeted by the year

After launch: Apple charges $99 a year and Google a one-time $25 to publish. The backend usually costs ₹3,000–₹20,000 a month to host, and every year's platform changes need an update.

AI automation

Chatbots, AI agents, document and enquiry processing

BandUsually quotedTimeline
One automation or chatbot₹40,000 – ₹1.5 lakh2–4 weeks
AI connected to your systems₹1.5 lakh – ₹5 lakh4–10 weeks
AI across several systems, with approvals₹5 lakh – ₹15 lakh2–5 months
An AI product₹15 lakh and upBudgeted by the year

After launch: The model provider charges per use — often a few hundred to a few thousand rupees a month at small volumes, rising with volume — plus WhatsApp message charges if it runs there.

Before you sign anything

The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest project.

Ask who owns the code and the accounts. The domain, the hosting, the repository, the app store listings. If the answer is anything other than you, that is the real price, whatever the number says.

Ask what a change costs after launch. You will want changes. If each one is a new quote, you will stop asking, and what you paid for goes stale.

Ask what they would leave out. A team that cannot name anything to cut has not understood what you are trying to do.

Try the smallest version first. A template, a free tier, a spreadsheet and a form. If it holds up for a month, you may not need to build anything — and if it breaks, you will know exactly what the brief is.

Questions about the number

How accurate is this?

Accurate enough to plan with, not to sign. It tells you which band a project usually falls into in India and what put it there. A real figure needs someone to understand what you are building — especially the parts that are not obvious from five questions, like how settled the process is and how much existing data has to move.

Is this what Scaleqode charges?

It is the range you are likely to be quoted across India, not our price list. A specific figure comes after a conversation about the problem. And if your estimate shows you do not need a studio at all, we would rather tell you that than quote for it.

Why do quotes for the same project vary so much?

Because they are pricing different things and rarely say so. One includes writing the content, one does not. One assumes you own the code, one keeps it. One counts the integrations, one discovers them later. Ask every quote what it assumed — the answers matter more than the totals.

Does the estimate include running costs?

The range is the build. Running costs are shown separately under each estimate — hosting, platform fees, app store charges, AI usage — because they recur, and a cheaper build with higher running costs is often the more expensive choice.

A range is a start. The problem is the brief.

Tell us what is not working and we will come back with a first read — sometimes a smaller answer than the calculator suggests, and occasionally not software at all.
